To celebrate the launch of our new website, we have decided to feature our second review of Suitopia. We have been working exclusively with a gentleman by the name of Lars Olsson. He has been a pleasure to work with and is usually very responsive to our emails and requests.
Our first review of Suitopia was very good. It was not ranked as high as others we have reviewed but things have definitely changed with this second review.

It all started when Lars emailed us and stated that the company was launching a new website and are featuring a new high quality fabric line. We agreed and are happy that we did. Here is what Lars had to say:

Our new suit designer, where you can select a fabric and see how it looks like on a human model. This works for suits and tuxedos today, and will soon work for wedding products as well (frock coats, morning coats etc). You can try different design and see for example how different colored lapels would look on your jacket, or how a specific waistcoat would match your wedding suit. Now you can select each individual fabric which makes a lot more interesting fabrics available for our customers.

New Website

We really like the new changes the company made to their website. During our conversations with them, they mentioned that they are changing the website to streamline the order process and make the customization process easier. We took the website for another spin and found that that the changes they made did make the process easier.

When we conduct a review, we look at everything. We take the mindset of a customer approaching a company for the first time. We want to experience everything they would experience so we can provide them with what they need and hopefully, save them a bit of time and money.

We really like how all of the main options are laid out at the top with the sub options laid out on the left hand side. You can always get back to the previous option. It makes it very easy to see where you are and what is next. All of the options are listed in an easy to see fashion including the “add-on” charges (if any).

One of the biggest changes is the seamless live preview of your suit on the right hand side. When you make a change, you can see the changes reflected in the live preview. This is not unique to their website but the changes they did make are a huge improvement over their previous version. It is quicker and reflects the suit perfectly.

The Suit

As we mentioned, we were very impressed with the quality of this suit. It is heads and tails above the quality of the previous suit reviewed. Suitopia also wished for us to review the additional items they offer such as he cuff links, sit and pocket square. You will find the pictures included below.

The fabric 586.861.779 is made in basic twill weave with contrasted colors.

This item is made of our bestseller quality called PERENNIAL all round fabric you can use in every occasion during your business meeting as well as during more relaxed times.

The technical name of the design is GRISAGLIA better know with the international name of SHARK SKIN. Mixing the colors with a little contrast allow the designer to create a particular surface, not uniform, a faux uni microeffect that makes the look more alive and deeper as a 3D image.
The blue of this shade is typical of the those men working in finance and fashion district of Italy’s most glam capital: Milano.

For the last 350 years, all the phases of the wool processing have been carried out in the historical buildings in Pratrivero in the Biellese Prealps, the heart of the textile-producing area, where the best waters flow for the processing of high-quality wools. This is where the textiles come from which are bought by the most famous gentlemen’s tailors, from Caraceni to Panico, from the tailors of Savile Row to all the other masters of the tailor’s skill throughout the world.

The first documentation of the wool-producing activities of the family dates back to 1663, but the company first became Vitale Barberis Canonico in 1936, to then become a limited company in 1971.

Throughout the years, Vitale Barberis Canonico has always recorded positive trends: in 2012, the production reached 6,930 million metres, and the turnover rose to e 103 million (in comparison to e 99 million in 2011.) With over 340 skilled workers, 50 agents all over the world, two state-of-theart establishments in the Biella area and avant-garde management methods, VBC has taken its place amongst the top companies in the world for the production of high-quality wools in terms of both value and quantity, and on a global level as the main exporter.

The company has turned export into one of its key strengths: today it sells on every continent exporting more than 80% of its production to 100 countries. It has been represented in China, one of its main markets, for more than 40 years and realises approximately 20% of its entire
turnover there. Moreover, production is carried out 100% in Italy: the company invests to a large extentin Italy, where it is at home, and in a period when Italian wool-producing companies have poor prospectives.

Vitale Barberis Canonico uses highly innovative machinery and technology which are also costly in terms of research and development. The company guarantees maximum respect for the environment and the health of the employees by adopting ecologically-sustainable methods, and it has been highly commended for its efforts in this field.

Another point of excellence is the selection of the best wools in the world, amongst which are the highly-prized Australian Saxon Merinos. Every year, the mill processes around 2.5 million kg of greasy wool with an average diameter of only approximately 17.5 microns.

The Fabric

With this review, we were expecting something a little special regarding the fabric. We are impressed!. The suit arrived packed in a beautiful box that shouted elegance and taste. Upon opening, we immediately recognized the quality of this fabric. It was the perfect mix of weight and texture. We have reviewed some “heavy” suits with rigid fabric but this fabric was soft to the touch but also had some weight to it allowing it to drape nicely in the right areas.

We examined every area of the suit from the top of the collar to the individual stitching on the suit cuffs. There wasn’t a stitch out of place nor was there a stray thread. Everything was expertly stitched with the stitching displayed as we ordered.

The fit was perfect. We measured every area of the suit and compared them to the measurements sent it. Perfect. There was no fabric binding in the upper thigh or crotch are nor did he shoulders bunch under the arms. This was one of the most comfortable suits we have ever worn!

As mentioned, for this review, Suitopia wanted us to review their accessories as well. When ordering a custom suit, we strongly recommend ordering a custom shirt as well. If you can afford it, take advantage of some of the additional products they sell. There is something to be said for wearing a finely custom suit with a beautiful tie, cuff links and braces.

Suitopia offers everything you need with enough choices to match the suit of your choice. The process are very reasonable and the quality is definitely there.

Our visitors are not 60-70 year old business men. We cater to the 25-45 crowd who are into style and appreciate high quality fashion. We know quality and has discerning taste. Therefore, we know if something is cheap and we would quickly let you know to save you money!
The “John Henrig” cufflinks Suitopia sent are amazing. They are “heavy” and look great. The colors matched perfectly. The box they were shipped in is also very nice. Upon taking off the external box and witnessing the inner padded box, you are expecting nothing but the best. We are impressed with the cuff links and give them a 5 out of 5.

Tie

The tie is your standard dark blue tie with small dots. It is elegant, classy and understated. The length is perfect and the weight is just enough to make it easy to tie but not light enough where it won’ stay in position. It is one of the better ties we have been shipped to review.

Pocket Square

It may not be fair that we review pocket squares as a few members of the staff have experience making and marketing pocket squares. We have reviewed many pocket squares from TrendySquares.com and know what to look for in high end squares.

This square is nice. It is not top of the line but rather a matching fabric cut with sewn edges. It is a light weight fabric. You may want to pass on this option and buy the square from a company that specializes in just pocket squares.

Braces

The quality of the braces is excellent. With leather attachments and chrome clips, these are fantastic. We are very impressed with these custom braces and recommend that you purchase a pair. This will separate you from the pack as very few people wear them. Those that do stand out. Remember, don’t wear a belt when you wear braces!!

 

Summary

To sum up, we are very impressed with the new website changes, the suit and this new fabric. Based on our past reviews, Suitopia was a “middle of the pack” economy custom suit company that produced decent suits for a good price. With the new changes and this new fabric, they have definitely moved up our list. The suit is one of the best made suits we have reviewed and the fabric has to be at the top if not at the top. We are very impressed with what we have seen.

Our recommendation – place an order at Suitopia, you won’t regret it!

We have received A TON of emails from people wanting us to review pants, dress shirts, sports coats and winter coats from this company. We have not ignored you but were busy with this review and as you can see, our new website. We know they offer custom shirts but are not sure about their product selection. Also, we have not approached the company about this. It is their choice if they want to be reviewed. As a few of you suggested, the company is not ignoring us and they are not hiding anything. We have not even mentioned this to them at this time.
